Mosaic art always had a great fascination for me and that love took me to PASDEC for getting Mosaic training in Islamabad Center. I was lucky enough to be the part of CREW Project because I was referred by one of my sister friends who already got this training and now running her own business successfully.
At first we just came for the Mosaic training but when we came to know that there will be Entrepreneurship training is also the part of it, we were very pleased as this will be great opportunity to start our own business.
Two months just passed in no time under the guidance of our trainer Ms. Uzma, and sir Ahsan Zeb helped us in every and dream come true and I have started my own business in Mosaic with the help of my sister who is Interior Designer and now we both working for Mosaic business with lot of innovation and earning a lot to support my family.
The only consistency in the world is change and likewise there was a change in my life too, when I completed my Matric. and having my holiday for 1st year admission. Some one came to our village to invite girls to participate in the training of Mosaic along with the support to start business at home or elsewhere.
Being the member of lower middle class and want to support my family, so I went with mother to visit the center in my village and she allowed me to attend the training. I was having no knowledge of Mosaic previously and it look very difficult but kept on trying and after some time it became easy, but the whole credit goes to our trainer and staff, who helped us a lot in learning and understanding the whole process.
Designing was the basic of Mosaic which we learnt with lot of hard work and equally facilitated by our designer and motivated by our trainers and we start making small mosaic pieces in the beginning and now we can make big ones too.
There were different activities for our learning during the course and we visited industrial area and other expos to get the know-how of the business and get confidence, at the end there was certificate/ Cheques distribution ceremony was done in Islamabad in hotel.
We started our own center in the town and got some orders, which were made marketed and supplied by us and we felt very proud.
Profile Married with 2 children and joint family structure
Very fond of making new things since my child hood as when I was attending school, bearing the habit of saving some amount of my pocket money to buy few odd things from market and transform them to a new shape like making paper flower, painting of utensils etc. and not formally trained in my past which I got here with CREW in Marble Mosaic.
Crew Training helped us a lot in reshaping our talent specially Mosaic where we learnt basics of drawing training, converting sketch in to reality along with making of Marble Mosaic by which we can decorate our homes along with other family members and friends
In the beginning it was looking difficult but after some practice it became simple due to the guidance of my trainer and hard work in imparting the basic training, then for one month we got the Entrepreneur Training which helped us a lot in starting our own business to earn.
I have set up a small set up at my house and invited my neighbors to learn this skill and helped me in this business along with earnings to support her family.
Message: Learn Mosaic and earn a great Life.
On the way to progress depends on small whishes of life which surrounding us and creates will to win on the way to new horizons. I am one of them belongs to a remote village Chirrah, having basic instincts of creativity but could not find any suitable platform to exhibit my capabilities.
When PASDEC started a Training Center in our village and at my first effort I visited this center on the invitation of Ms. Fatima who showed us the center and explained about the Mosaic Training which fascinated us and we joined the center and start getting training.
Our trainer Ms. Uzma was very nice and kind to us. Her training style was commendable and we enjoyed our training and find two months was very less period but even its good to have. During our training we visited different places where marble work was shown to us along with the process of cutting and reshaping. We seen their display and appreciated the products of Mosaic Inlay and Handicrafts.
As now I have learnt the whole process and want to continue this work at my own place and to induct my near and dear to learn mosaic work and earn their bread and butter. By doing so not only I will increase my family status along with other helping me in doing so.
Basically I belong to Azad Kashmir, few days back visited Rawalpindi to see my brother and cosult my doctor for certain reason and stayed at my brother home where I had met with my sister in law who is a teacher at Thanda Pani (where center located) she told me about center and we went to see center. It was really nice and we both liked it.
After care full discussion with my family it was decided that we should get this training from that center and in this way I joined training. On my first day greeted by the Trainer who explained me the objective of training and I felt very delighted.
During the training we enjoyed the atmosphere and it was very pleasant atmosphere in the centre and made new friends. Lot of learning in shape of new skills and development of Mosaic business in the community and how to increase it.
Entrepreneurship training was another highlight of this training in which we are told how exactly the things required for the things required for the initiation of Entrepreneurship, but overall an excellent time spent in CREW training.
Now I will be leaving for Kashmir and will surely try to expand this training in my area with my friends and class fellows and try t o create a market in Azad Kashmir and will generate a good income for my family and for others too.
I salute all the responsible people running this show and helping female community to stand on their feet and they will be no more burden on other.
Learn a skill and keep it safe, it may be utilized someday in life time. Handicraft is such an art that can be useful any time. Handicraft means stitching of clothes, embroidery or Marble Mosaic/Handicrafts. By getting training of Mosaic we can be artist and get honorable earnings too.
Everyone has to make a decision in a life time about future and I have to make a decision after my education while sitting at home and doing nothing feeling bored. I am thankful to PASDEC/GIZ for starting CREW Project in our area and providing an opportunity for all the females sitting idle at their homes.
PASDEC along with GIZ started CREW project for the development of women in Marble sector.
For making Mosaic Inlay and Handicraft items for decoration of home and getting a decent amount in compensation to support my family. Now we have started our own small set up in the village along with my friends and neighbors and doing good.
I have done my Metric. along with stitching course and computer diploma. Very fond of doing new things and then help others in doing so and be contributing person towards my Nation.
I visited CREW center along with my mother in law and we liked this work and atmosphere, then I requested my husband for permission to get admission and gave it very generously.
Here in center the atmosphere was excellent and guidance was the best from trainer designer and other senior staff, which enlighten us not only in Marble Mosaic but in life as wel.
It was last year winter when we came to know about the inaugural of a training center in our village for Marble mosaic training for women. As I was sitting idle at my home all the times so I decided to take part in this center and get admitted in the Mosaic Course, here we came to know about Mosaic and its history. It was astonishing for us that this art form is ancient and lot of work done in this regard in Europe and Asia since ages.
At beginning we were taught about drawing and making sketches with the help of traditional tools by hand, as it can also be made with computer. After some time we were able to create our own drawings, sketches and personally making Mosaic designs with the help of marble cubes.
Our women have lot of time but no resources and platform to do something. CREW Project was an excellent idea to engage our women community, educated and semi educated both, to learn this skill and earn your bread and butter. The differential advantage of CREW is that they not only trained but also create Entrepreneurship for women, which is the need of the hour.
We are confident that this work will progress in future and we have made a group of 10 trainees from our village to start a mini training center in our vicinity and trained other women of our community and develop a small cottage industry at our village level. This will not only help trainees to earn but to support our country economically.
