Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) has launched free of cost women skill development training program in marble mosaic, inlay and handicrafts under Creative Entrepreneurship for Women (CREW) Project. The Mosaic, Crafts and Inlay (MCI) as sub-sector of Marble and Granite sector of Pakistan possesses immense potential for women entrepreneurship development, skill development, employment generation, promotion of an entrepreneurial culture and the creation of value added products, including decoration pieces and furniture from marble waste. PASDEC aims to achieve gender parity by upgrading the position of women within the value chain development by inserting high value added sub-sectors in which women can participate as entrepreneurs, producers and workers. Two MCI centers have been established in Charrah (Islamabad Capital Territory) and at Abbotabad, Hazara Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The direct beneficiaries of trainings will be 560 women from the most vulnerable strata of areas surrounding industrial hubs in the Hazara region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and rural ICT (Islamabad Capital Territory).These training are being conducted from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. PASDEC (CREW) in order to develop/enhance the technical skills and creation of value chain among the trainees and Industry' visits to industry are being organized. In this regard a visit of Cherah Center trainees was organized to I-9 Marble Industries of Islamabad to give them an exposure and general overview of the practical work going on in the Industrial area in Marble and its sub sector.
